That was during my University years (if not mistaken). I remembered that I had a motorcycle and taken a ride with some friends to can at Port Dickson beach.
It was more than 90km ride (I think this this furthest ride I have been during my younger years).
I don’t recall much but we set a camp at the beach for a one night stay.
As much as I would like to remember, but my memory nowadays don’t last that long.
I woke up early – about 5.15am or 5.30 am. After Suboh prayers, I reached office about 7.00 am if not much traffic or 7.30 am latest.
This is my most productive time when there’s no one at the office.
I prepared and published all my social media contents such as TikTok videos or FB/IG Stories and Reels.
My computer browser will open up with ChatGPT as the default home.
ChatGPT is my saviour for my copy writing and content ideas. No longer my social media post will be lacking interesting call to action scripts.
I am able to write a couple of Blogs including Professional and Personal Blog articles.
I always used Canva for the posters. Previously I will use the free stock photos to decorate my poster, but now I am using Bing Image Creator (using AI) to create them.
With the help of ChatGPT to create the image prompt for the Bing Image Creator, I can have better photos.
If I am lazy, I will just use the images for my TikTok videos.
By 9.00 am, I will share my selected Blog articles to my WhatsApp Groups. Since I have two mailing lists – Mailchimp and Payhip, I will share similar or different contents.
That’s how I spent every morning if I don’t have external meetings.
Actually this morning routine, I have only started since January 2023 and I found it to be most productive time.
“Care” Emoji – Normally I used this a lot on Facebook but I couldn’t find it in my phone. Reason being, I liked the way my friends or followers who commented on my posts.
👍👍👍 is another kind of emoji which I used to thanks and also give encouragement to the postings.
I used 😅 to show the light-hearted side of the post.
😬 for things which I felt something funny.
☺️ when I say thanks.
There are many more emojis which I normally used but the above are my favourites.
Started with a single Blog that shares the electronic gadgets that I bought, now it has turned into too many blogs that cover topics on IoT, travel, technology and many others.
Some people blog just for the sake of blogging and don’t care if there are any followers or not.
But most of us will feel some satisfaction if there are people visited our blog everyday and leave comments.
Since my idea of blogging is to share my experience with others, of course, I wanted to see more visitors to my blog. Otherwise, what’s the use of blogging (for me).
But now, I feel very tired to maintain and sustain so many blogs.
Maybe I just need to categorise my Blog into two – Personal and Business.
Describe one positive change you have made in your life.
WordPress Prompt
I began to like the daily prompt in the Jetpack app that manages my Blogs. I answered these prompts (questions), such as above, on different kinds of blogs I managed. And this time is this Blog’s turn.
There are many positive changes in my life, but there’s one that changes my life.
In 2013, my proposal to attend the first IoT Asia in Singapore was rejected by my superior, although 2 of my staff’s applications were approved. I was pretty disappointed because our department was very active in IoT R&D and hoping that the conference could help us some light.
I was also quite active on Social Media, especially Twitter – sharing information about IoT and my opinions about the industry.
In early 2014, I was approached by one of the staff that mentioned my name was listed in the 2014 Onalytica Report – “The Internet of Things – Top 100 Thought Leaders,” and was ranked 20th! What a surprise!
I mentioned this to my HR Director, and she congratulated me and said, “Dr. Mazlan – You are a Thought Leader.” At that time, I was unsure what’s exactly a “Thought Leader.”
After a quick research about the term “Thought Leader” and why the contribution to the IoT industry significantly impacts others, I began to realize how important for me to keep going on this path.
And with that comes several other recognitions from various media, such as:
Onalytica Report “Who’s Who in IoT” (May 2022).
Ranked among Top 50 Global Thought Leaders on the Internet of Things (February 2019)
Digital Disruption (October 2019) by Thinkers360
Top 50 Most Impactful Smart Cities Leaders by World CSR Congress 2017
Top 10 in IoT Top 100 Influencers by Postscapes 2017 & 2018
I have also appeared in many publications listed here.
The day I realized how becoming an IoT Thought Leader can inspire and change the lives of others, I have never turned back, and I am happy to continue sharing my talks with the public. The list of Talks can be found here.
